Resting amidst the Pennines in Silkstone, South Yorkshire is this charming, detached cottage of The Cottage. The Cottage accommodates a family of five and is steeped in history; it was once an Old Tommy Shop, and now makes for a home-from-home that is packed with character. The property offers an off-road parking space and further on-street parking, however, if you don't drive then you're still in luck, as a train station can be found moments away. Progress inside to come across a hallway sporting original stone flooring, where you can leave your belongings before wandering into one of the living areas. The first of these comprises a delightful sitting room, where oak flooring, exposed beams and brickwork give the space a touch of character; grab a seat on one of the plush sofas, throw some logs into the woodburning stove and switch on the Smart TV to enjoy an evening of relaxation. Continue to the farmhouse kitchen, where pale blue cabinetry beholds a range of quality appliances, from a slimline dishwasher to an electric range cooker; the chef of the group will have a ball whipping up culinary delights here! When these treats are ready, bring them through to the dining room, where you can enjoy a meal accompanied by your favourite tipple. As the day comes to an end, make your way upstairs to find three tastefully furnished bedrooms, two of which offer doubles and Smart TVs, and the latter featuring a single bed with a handy trundle. Completing the property's interior is a shower room, where you can freshen up before wandering out to explore your surroundings. To the rear of the property is an enclosed patio, where you can enjoy alfresco breakfasts on sunny mornings, or dinners under the stars as the outdoor woodburner warms you up. Step out of your door and into the village of Silkstone, where two welcoming pubs, as well as the delights of the ancient Waggon Way, Husker Pit and the Trans Pennine Trail for the keen cyclists. Don't forget to also pay Pot House Hamlet a visit, where a petting farm, boutiques and so much more can be found. Be sure to visit the market town of Penistone, where the scenic Penistone Viaduct, along with the Penistone Paramount Cinema and Peniston Leisure Centre can be found; the Scout Dike Reservoir can be found nearby, ideal for birdwatching! Cannon Hall Farm is also just a 5 minute drive away for a fantastic family day out or why not visit the Wentworth Castle Gardens, an historic National Trust property. Just a short drive away you will find the city of Sheffield for a fun-packed outing, with the Millennium Gallery, Sheffield Botanical Gardens and Weston Park Museum taking centre stage?
