Town: Set in a lovely countryside location the charming village of Rudyard boasts an interesting claim to fame. Alice Macdonald and her fiancé Lockwood Kipling met on the shores of the nearby lake and so decided to name their first-born son after the place. The beautiful Manifold Valley offers further walking opportunities with the "Manifold Trail" an excellent route through superb scenery for walkers and cyclists.
