Beccles, a popular holiday destination, is a pretty market town set on the River Waveney. An ideal base to sail up the river to take in the beautiful Norfolk Broads or visit the sandy beaches of Suffolk. The town itself is dominated by the detached 16th century bell tower of St Michael's Church. It was in this church in 1749 that the mother of Horatio Nelson, Catherine Suckley married the Rev Edmund Nelson, a former curate of Beccles. As well as boating and riverside walks, there is golf, swimming and a wide variety of eating places, pubs and shops. Perfectly situated for holidays enjoying both Norfolk and Suffolk Waveney.
