The market town of Penistone has a good selection of amenities including a weekly market, its own cinema, pubs, shops, restaurants and hosts the annual Penistone Show, as well as being on the route for the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire. The village of Thurlstone, just two miles away, provides some small village shops, a nice pub and has the Trans-Pennine Trail right on its doorstep, offering excellent walking and cycling with spectacular views. The nearby reservoirs of Langsett, Broomhead and Derwent, the latter being the site where the famous Dambusters raid was practised, are also well worth a visit. The area provides excellent opportunities for a variety of activities such as golf, clay pigeon shooting and pony trekking. For culture lovers there is plenty of choice to satisfy all tastes including Cannon Hall Museum Park and Gardens, Wentworth Castle, Chatsworth House, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the National Coal Mining Museum for England, all of which are easily accessible. The beautiful Peak District National Park is tantalisingly close and a little further afield is the Yorkshire Dales National Park, so you really are spoilt for choice! Alternatively, if you fancy some retail therapy, Meadowhall Retail Park in Sheffield with its 230 shops and 50 places to eat and drink, can be reached within a half hours drive. This lovely property is a perfect getaway at all times of the year.
