Coach House Barn is a self-catering barn conversion situated in the picturesque village of Defford, just a short drive from Pershore, in the heart of Worcestershire. Originally the coach house to Defford House it has a fascinating history, dating back to the 1830’s. Allegedly Queen Victoria’s Aunt Adelaide, the dowager Queen, would visit the house en-route to visit her relatives at Croome Court.
Coach House Barn is located within the walled gardens of Defford House, however is a private residence and offers a tranquil retreat for families and friends. It is cosy but spacious providing three separate sleeping areas. It has been renovated to a high standard and care taken to retain the conservation and historic character of the building. With a wealth of exposed brickwork, oak beams, and bespoke features the Barn feels contemporary and modern.
The interior has been designed with a combination of modern and antique furniture with original art works dotted all through the property. It has three double bedrooms, one of which has a single bedroom attached and all have ensuite bathrooms. Children are very welcome, and a traditional cot can be provided on advance booking together with a highchair and stair gate.
The accommodation:
The large open plan living area has a dining table to seat seven, two sofas, an armchair and coffee table. There is also WiFi and a TV, with Netflix.
The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, hob and hood, stainless sink, kettle, microwave, cooking utensils, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, crockery, and cutlery.
In the hall there is a galleried staircase and barn glazed doors. There is a display case containing board games, DVDs and books. There are several books for small children. A cupboard under the stairs contains hoover and cleaning materials.
Off the hallway downstairs there is a double bedroom which has just been added to the property. There is a double bed, bedside tables, and small window with a shutter in this room. There is an ensuite bathroom with a single shower, small vanity, and toilet.
The two-tier staircase ends in a short mezzanine with a gallery and two separate sleeping areas to each side.
The master bedroom has exposed beams and brickwork, two skylights, king sized bed, bedside tables, double wardrobe, dressing table and full length mirror. The bed linen provided is Egyptian cotton with feather and down filled pillows and duvet. The ensuite has a separate bath, walk in double shower, toilet, vanity hand basin and heated towel rail.
The second double bedroom has twin single beds, exposed beams, and skylight. This room leads to steps down to a single bedroom with a window and shutter. This leads to a single ensuite shower room, with a toilet, vanity basin and single shower and heated towel rail.
Location:
Defford is a village on the edge of Bredon Hill and it’s renowned for its agriculture, specialising in asparagus and fruit. The village is situated off a main road, equidistant to Pershore and Upton-upon-Severn by about three miles. Both small towns are very popular with tourists and have a holiday atmosphere, with a range of activities, including a cinema, art gallery, theatre, boat trips and a range of good quality restaurants.
Coach House Barn is located within the walled garden of one of the Defford village’s Georgian historic buildings. The garden has been designed with attention to detail with box hedging and espalier apple trees. The sunny private courtyard has an abundance of planting ranging from Olive trees to Japanese Acers, suitable for relaxing and alfresco dining. There is outdoor seating and a parasol in the summer. The bins to the property are housed behind the gate and are out of sight.
Defford is well situated centrally in the country, and for visitors to the area traveling by car; it is just ten minutes journey time off the M5. It is relatively easy to get to from most areas in the country. There is a train station in Pershore, and Worcester, which are on the main rail network connecting country wide.
The rental includes exclusive use of a private courtyard; secure parking for up to two cars, central heating, and all utilities. Bed linen and towels are provided. For the comfort of all our customers we do not permit pets in the Barn, and smoking is permitted in the courtyard terrace.
Before your arrival to Coach House Barn, you will receive full and detailed directions. From 4:00pm the Barn will be ready, spotlessly clean and prepared for your stay with more details about the property such as WiFi code.
The Barn should be vacated by 10.00 am on the leaving day.
Located in Worcester, this vacation home is in a rural area. Showborough House Sculpture Garden and Tewkesbury Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at The Vale Golf and Country Club and Cleeve Hill Golf Club.
