Located within the beautiful Holkham Estate, with access to acres of parkland, you only need to open the front door to admire the picturesque surroundings. With the scenery providing a coat of tranquillity, when you turn around and look indoors the ambience is the same. Feature windows slot into sandstone walls, with the glow of a woodburning fire and plush leather sofas that you can sink into. Rustic décor amplifies the sumptuous elements of this cosy lodge, creating the feel of a home away from home, with a few extra holiday features. The intimate kitchen is perfectly equipped to rustle up some romantic meals for two!

The bedroom is calm and tranquil, with a king-size bed and plenty of storage for your belongings. Bedside tables sit waiting for a good book and cup of tea, ideal for long, lazy mornings tucked under the covers.

Outside, Burnham East Lodge boasts its own private walled garden, where you can soak up the Norfolk sunshine and sit under the stars sharing a bottle of wine in the evenings.

Beyond the private garden, parkland stretches out in every direction, with pet friendly woodland trails that lead you into the charming Holkham village, The Burnhams and onto Wells-next-the-Sea. The foodie scene is North Norfolk is exemplary, with the nearby Victoria Inn coming highly recommended and plenty of other eateries to choose between, all within a short drive.

Poised in the grounds of the impressive Holkham Estate, you only have to step outside your front door to appreciate the impressive parkland and woodlands that surround you. A beautiful walk through the Estate will bring you to the majestic Holkham Hall, whilst pet friendly woodland trails lead you into the charming Holkham village, The Burnhams and onto Wells-next-the-Sea.

The Holkham Estate is vast, offering 25000 acres of parkland and private gardens. Rich in history, architecture and wildlife, the charms of Holkham Hall are hard to resist! The seat of the Earl of Leicester, this elegant 18th century mansion is still a much loved, lived-in family home which visitors can also enjoy. There are 6 acres of walled garden, originally laid out by Samuel Wyatt in the late 1700’s. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the walking and cycling paths, the lakes, watching the deer, the tree top high ropes course with its swings, bridges and ziplines, rowing boats, canoes and kayaks on the lake and the woodland play area. It is an outstanding family excursion.

Of course, North Norfolk is renowned for its beautiful beaches and the beach at Holkham does not disappoint. It is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of sand in the country. With a glorious semi-circle basin filling to form a spectacular shallow lagoon at high tides, this beach is famous for the closing scene in Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and is also very popular with birdwatchers, so pack your binoculars if you would like to find some!

For an afternoon of pottering around the shops, Burnham Market and Holt are perfect. Overflowing with unique independent shops, welcoming gastropubs such as the Hoste, cute delis, cafes, and galleries, all around a delightful village green, Burnham Market is incredibly popular. Look out for the August arts and crafts fair with puppet shows and alfresco dining! Holt is another Norfolk gem, again with wonderful art galleries, eateries, and charm.
