Burnham Folly, Wells-Next-The-Sea

Norfolk. Sleeps up to 2

Nestle up by the fire, spend slow mornings under the covers and embrace the tranquillity and magic of the surrounding Estate! Burnham Folly offers a romantic escape that is intimate, and cosy yet still feels bright and spacious in every corner. This studio folly offers all the delights a couple could need, with space for two of you to settle in and fully relax.

A Grade II listed gatehouse, this delightful holiday home is truly one of a kind. Grand high ceilings and decorative plasterwork frame this beautiful room, creating a bijou studio apartment. All on one level on the ground floor, the layout is open plan, centred around a charming feature fireplace that you can leave burning through the afternoons! Large armchairs face the fireplace, perfect for curling up with a book and loosing track of the hours as you embrace these tranquil holiday moments.

There are some small catering facilities including a toaster, kettle, and fridge, however we would highly recommend taking a break from all the food preparation and visiting the nearby Victoria Inn or Wells Beach Café for a meal, as well as trying out the incredible North Norfolk foodie scene that stretches up the coast!

The king-size bed is opulent in style, with luxurious linens and soft pillows that you sink into, relishing a good night’s sleep with no alarms needed in the morning. There is an en-suite shower room for you to enjoy as well.

Stepping outside, it is a beautiful fifteen-minute walk through the Estate to reach the majestic Holkham Hall, and a further fifteen-minutes beyond that will bring you to Holkham village and the beach beyond. The Holkham Estate itself is vast, offering 25000 acres of parkland and private gardens. Rich in history, architecture and wildlife, the charms of Holkham Hall are hard to resist! Whilst Burnham Folly is pet friendly, it is asked that you keep your four-legged friend on a lead whilst walking in the estate.

Whether you are on a quiet romantic escape, looking to explore the North Norfolk coast, or visiting friends and family, Burnham West Lodge is a brilliant base. Perfectly located for both coast and countryside, we cannot recommend this charming property enough!

Poised in the grounds of the impressive Holkham Estate, Burnham Folly offers a one-of-a-kind, romantic getaway in North Norfolk. Stepping outside, it is a beautiful fifteen-minute walk through the Estate to reach the majestic Holkham Hall, and a further fifteen-minutes beyond that will bring you to Holkham village and the beach beyond.

The Holkham Estate is vast, offering 25000 acres of parkland and private gardens. Rich in history, architecture and wildlife, the charms of Holkham Hall are hard to resist! The seat of the Earl of Leicester, this elegant 18th century mansion is still a much loved, lived-in family home which visitors can also enjoy. There are 6 acres of walled garden, originally laid out by Samuel Wyatt in the late 1700’s. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the walking and cycling paths, the lakes, watching the deer, the tree top high ropes course with its swings, bridges and ziplines, rowing boats, canoes and kayaks on the lake and the woodland play area. It is an outstanding family excursion.

Of course, North Norfolk is renowned for its beautiful beaches and the beach at Holkham does not disappoint. It is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of sand in the country. With a glorious semi-circle basin filling to form a spectacular shallow lagoon at high tides, this beach is famous for the closing scene in Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and is also very popular with birdwatchers, so pack your binoculars if you would like to find some!

For an afternoon of pottering around the shops, Burnham Market and Holt are perfect. Overflowing with unique independent shops, welcoming gastropubs such as the Hoste, cute delis, cafes, and galleries, all around a delightful village green, Burnham Market is incredibly popular. Look out for the August arts and crafts fair with puppet shows and alfresco dining! Holt is another Norfolk gem, again with wonderful art galleries, eateries, and charm.
