This property has a natural water supply via spring. . Escape to your own private hideaway which is as snug in the winter when the fire crackles, as it is stunning in the spring and summer when the bluebells, heather, and wildlife blossom around you. Torrnalaich Cottage is named after one of the Estate’s two lochs, reached by walking through the glorious deciduous woodland and the stunning glen. Days can be spent exploring the Estate, while evenings can be spent cosied up in front of the roaring fire, star gazing from the gardens or in the enclosed BBQ cabin shared with Chapel Cottage next door.
A cottage lovingly restored in 2022 with design-led interior, the fireplace and ambient lighting in the living room create the perfect cosy atmosphere. The well-equipped country kitchen has a bijou breakfast area. There’s a welcoming double bedroom with sumptuous White Company linens and towels, served by a shower room.
Kirnan Estate is an ideal base for exploring Argyll and the Kintyre Peninsula with its stunning scenery and rugged coastline. In season, complimentary salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing is available on the Estate on a private double-bank on 2½ miles of river on the River Add. Or why not try clay pigeon shooting, yoga classes or creative art classes which are all available on site?
The area is surrounded by Neolithic and early Bronze Age monuments, ancient castles, standing stones and ruined forts. There is a choice of forest trails, offering excellent mountain biking, or the Crinan Canal towpath is ideal for easy walking and cycling. There’s an excellent pub and restaurant about a 2-mile flat walk along the glen and a short 5-mile drive takes you to the local town of Lochgilphead which has a variety of shops, cafés, restaurants, swimming pool, golf course and sports centre. The fishing village of Tarbert (20 miles) gives you easy access to ferry points across Kintyre travelling to Gigha, Arran, Islay and Portavadie. Further afield but offering a great day out are the towns of Oban, the Gateway to the Isles to the north, Inveraray, the capital of Argyll, to the east and Campbeltown to the far south on the Kintyre Peninsula.
