Poppy House is a large family home sleeping 11 in 5 bedrooms.
Built in the 1890’s the house is set on a prominent corner plot and is walking distance from the award winning beach and town centre and just ½ mile from Old Hunstanton. There is easy access to Thornham, Brancaster, Sandringham and Burnham Market.
Hunstanton (Sunny Hunny!) is a popular and charming Victorian seaside town with miles of beautiful beach, striking red and white striped cliffs and stunning sunsets. It is situated at the western end of the renowned North Norfolk Coast with its countless beaches, walks, sailing facilities and golf courses. Basing yourself in Hunstanton ensures all passions and interests are satisfied with things to do for all ages. The area offers wonderful holidays at any time of the year.
The property is set over 3 floors and offers comfortable living accommodation for 11 people plus children, suiting families and groups for holidays, short breaks and weekends away. On the ground floor there is an entrance lobby with space for boots and coats, spacious reception hall with sofa, lounge with three sofas and an open fire, very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, Nespresso machine and large fridge freezer. With a large and comfortable dining room seating 12, groups of friends or families will find the house a great place for entertaining. There is a separate utility room outside which houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and additional fridge-freezer. There is a decked courtyard with table and chairs at the back of the property and a small, enclosed garden with bench seating to the front. A BBQ is provided.
Upstairs you will find five bedrooms, three of which have en-suite shower rooms. All double beds have luxury Therapur mattresses and the singles comfortable and highly rated Mumsnet ones. All rooms are equipped with a Smart TV, hairdryer and radio alarm clock. The family bathroom on the top floor has a bath and separate, powerful Mira shower.

The house is full of things to make this a real home from home, Smart TV a selection of books and Wii. There are board games, puzzles and toys and books for our younger visitors and a range of outdoor/beach toys for guest use too. There are even wellies, in varying sizes, for those who forget to pack theirs! Free WiFi is provided throughout the house.
The house is well equipped for families with two high chairs, Kiddyguard retractable stair gates, microwave sterilizer, children's crockery and cutlery, 2 baby monitors, baby bath, toddler step, change mat, potty, toddler toilet seat and a bed guard. There are two travel cots and a full size cot (please bring your own cot bedding).
You are spoilt for choice with the local beaches, many award winning and stunning. The town has a variety of shops, promenade, beach, restaurants, pubs and theatre. There is plenty to do including tennis courts, croquet lawns, amusements, bowling greens, windsurfing and an 18-hole golf course. There is a Sea Life Centre and The Oasis Sports Centre with indoor swimming pool, two squash courts, winter indoor bowling and the Funcastle soft-play.
There is fantastic local walking passing through the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path running from Hunstanton continuing along the coast to Cromer. The area is also popular with cyclists with Norfolk having a variety of cycle routes including the Peddar’s Way and the 59 mile Norfolk Coast cycleway from King’s Lynn to Cromer.
Hunstanton offers a great base for local fishing and the ideal local beach conditions brings in the water sports enthusiasts with water skiing, canoeing, kite surfing, parasailing and wind surfing being very popular.
Bird watching is very popular with Norfolk being a top bird watching area, the North Norfolk coast between Hunstanton and Blakeney is particularly celebrated. There is the RSPB at Titchwell, Holme Nature Reserve, Snettisham RSPB Reserve and Scolt Head Island. You can see wildlife in its natural habitat at Blakeney Point (seal trips available), Cley Reserve and The National Nature Reserve at Holkham. From April to September you can catch a ferry from Brancaster Staith to Scolt Head Island NNR, a great example of an offshore barrier island.
Foodies will not be disappointed. There is a variety of fabulous places to eat for all budgets and tastes. You have access to everything from the ever popular coastal delight a fish and chip takeaway through to the Michelin starred Neptune Restaurant which is ½ a mile down the road, and everything in between! A firm favourite is The Rose and Crown, down the road in Snettisham, which was awarded Norfolk Dining Pub of the year 2020 and 2021.
Just up the road in Heacham (3 miles) is a lavender farm with lavender fields, farm shop, tearoom, animal farm, outdoor play area, gift shops, plant centre, Farmer Fred’s play barn, restaurant and gardens. See the lavender in bloom from the middle of June until the end of August.
In Thornham (4 miles) you will find a wonderful deli and café, the renowned Orange Tree Restaurant and a small selection of independent shops, a farm shop, fishmonger, antiqyes barn, clothes shops, ice cream parlour, excellent fish and chips restaurant and pizza in a yurt restaurant at Drove Orchard.
Brancaster (8 miles) is a pretty coastal village with superb sailing, including a sail school and a stunning beach.
16 miles to the East is one of Norfolk’s best loved coastal towns, Wells-next-the-sea. This small historic fishing town has much to offer all ages. A fine beach and pine woods, miniature railway and busy quay, interesting shops and amusements.
