Live the coastal life in this former fisherman’s cottage tastefully redesigned to provide a stylish, home-like holiday spot for up to five guests. Deep in the heart of the lively harbour town of Porthleven, you will be spoilt for choice for restaurants, pubs, independent shops and plenty of beaches and places of interest to visit.
Through the front door, you will be welcomed by a tasteful, cosy living room complete with squishy sofas and a fuss-free electric wood burner to keep you warm during the chillier months. The brick fireplace, antique flourishes and wooden flooring add to the soothing environment creating a great space to catch up in the evening with a glass of red wine or a local ale or two!
The modern kitchen has an oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, everything you need to host guests and cook up a storm. An oak five-seater dining table and benches provide a great space to host your family meals, whether it’s a home-cooked meal or some excellent local fish and chips served in the paper.
Upstairs the sleeping accommodation consists of three tastefully designed bedrooms with soft linens and towels included. Two double bedrooms and a single room with a full-size single bed accommodate five comfortably. Complete with stylish original fireplace features and plenty of space for hanging and storage, a good night’s sleep will be guaranteed with the windows ajar, allowing in the fresh sea breeze. A shared bathroom has a large deep bath for luxurious soaks and an over-bath shower.
The outdoor space has enough room to store beach gear, wetsuits and surfboards, ideal for being beach ready at any point and with the nearest one just 0.2 miles away, you need little excuse to get down to the water! With huge sandy shores, lively restaurants and coastal pubs aplenty, Willowmere Cottage is the ideal base to explore the local area of the lovely town of Porthleven.
Head down to the harbour for your evening meal and soak up the scene. We recommend a delicious seafood meal at Amelie’s, where you can enjoy a range of fresh fish, burgers and delicious desserts. After dinner, head to The Ship Inn, an idyllic spot to sit on the staggered beer garden overlooking the harbour, a great way to enjoy a local Cornish cider whilst watching the fishing boats bob in and out.
With its enviable coast, Cornwall has a plethora of beaches to choose from where crystal-clear waves await your enjoyment, with swimming, paddleboarding, water skiing, and boat rides all available. Just a ten-minute drive away is the glorious stretch of Praa Sands, a fantastic beach with plenty of parking, golden sand and blue sea. There is an on-site café and ice cream shop and a gorgeous coastal path to follow for some light exercise. Why not take the coastal path to Prussia Cove, a stunning local’s favourite with rock pools and seal spotting to enjoy?
Take a short drive to Marazion and pick up some lovely local fudge at Roly’s Fudge Pantry, where you can catch a demonstration by skilled staff. While you are there, a visit to the stunning National Trust island of St. Michael’s Mount is a must-see. You can reach the island on foot when the tide is out or catch one of the special boats going back and forth from the shore to the island harbour. There you can explore glorious, manicured gardens and a beautifully preserved historic castle, all part of the unique civil parish still thriving on the island.
A trip to The Eden Project in St. Austell would make a great day out, taking just under an hour and a half in the car. This famous Cornish spectacle is a perfect spot for families where you can walk amongst the dramatic tropical biomes and experience the sights and smells of the rainforest. There are fascinating displays on climate and sustainability and a large restaurant and gift shop to keep the kids fed and happy!
Why not take a day trip to St. Ives for a little local culture and visit the Cornish home of the Tate Gallery to check out exhibits of both famous and local artists and browse the local artisan shops?
