Region: Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
Town: The charming community of Hawkshead still possesses the charm and personality that made it so appealing to its most well-known residents, Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. Between the whitewashed 17th century homes, visitors can explore the abundance of little passageways, thoroughfares, archways, and courtyards. In addition to the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which hosts an annual changing display of the renowned author's pictures and stories, the village is home to a number of charming inns, teashops, guest houses, and gift shops. You may visit the location where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form and even see the desk into which he wrote his name as a young child by visiting the Old Grammar School, which is still standing today.
Located in Ambleside, this cottage is in a rural area and on a river. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Lake District National Park and Bardsea Country Park, while Old Laundry Theatre and Stott Park Bobbin Mill are cultural highlights.
