Mansfield 4.6 miles. Idyllically positioned on the grounds of the Grade II listed Teversal Manor, in the small village of Teversal less than five miles from Mansfield, rests this marvellous stone-built holiday home, The Gatehouse. Boasting an interior full of character whilst enjoying a rural setting in the countryside of Nottinghamshire, The Gatehouse makes the perfect base for a group celebration to the East Midlands. Park up in one of three off-road parking spaces before unloading your bags and making your way through the well-kept courtyard positioned at the front of this lovely holiday home to begin your staycation. Step inside and be welcomed by a snug sitting room, complete with a sumptuous seating area gathered in front of a television, providing the perfect setting to kick off your shoes and unwind following a tiring journey or a day full of adventure. In the summer months, take your dining experience outdoors with a sociable seat on your private patio, enveloped by the lush greenery of the mature grounds; a truly lovely spot to soak in the last of the evening sun as the little ones burn off some steam with a ball game on the lawn or whilst you enjoy a soak in the hot tub. As the evening draws to a close, retreat indoors and discover the first of four bedrooms tucked away on the ground floor, flooded with light welcomed in through the patio doors and benefiting from access to its own en-suite bathroom. Climbing the stairs to the first floor you'll discover a bright and airy super-king-size bedroom and one twin bedroom which can be made into a superking upon request and each showcasing the properties original character with exposed wooden beams and high vaulted ceilings. Completing the first floor is an additional double bedroom nestled alongside a family shower room. Heading on up to the top floor you will find a Games Room with TV, table football, air hockey and an arcade machine to keep the whole family entertained. Take a break from doing the cooking and head to the nearby pub, The Carnarvon Arms, famed as the setting from which English poet, DH Lawrence was claimed to have penned 'Lady Chatterley’s Lover', where you can indulge in a delicious bite to eat served alongside a crisp pint of real ale. For a wider selection of choice, journey to the nearby village of Stanton Hill, where you can enjoy a spot of pub grub at The Miners Arms, pick-up a takeaway with a choice of foreign cuisines, or stock up on ingredients with a visit to the supermarket. Whilst you're in the area, be sure to tour the 16th-century grounds of Hardwick Hall, an Elizabethan country house preserved by the National Trust, recognisable as the backdrop for Malfoy Manor in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, at the end of your day out head to the nearby Hardwick Inn serving home cooked hearty meals. Why not bring along your bike and venture the 6.6-mile Teversal Trail which leads onto the wooded Five Pits Trail; certain to entice outdoor enthusiasts.
