Holset is less than a mile from the village of East Portlemouth, which sits on the banks of the Salcombe Estuary and from where you can catch the foot ferry across to the popular town of Salcombe for a newspaper or a coffee, or take advantage of the many shops, cafes and restaurants. When you are ready for more adventure the spectacular scenery from the South West Coast Path is there to enjoy, perhaps taking a break at the highly acclaimed Gara Rock Resort which serves delicious food and offers spa and cinema facilities in an unrivalled location. There is also Port Waterhouse in East Portlemouth, a scenic bar and occasional pop up restaurant, along with being where Salcombe Paddle Boarding offers hire and tuition. Additional tidal access to the estuary at Goodshelter is just down the road from Holset for those wanting to access the water for more leisurely activities such as kayaking. The market town of Kingsbridge is a thirty minute drive away and Dartmouth around forty minutes; both have many amenities, shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
