Gould’s Farmhouse is a beautiful period farmhouse dating back to 1600s with some original features . It has recently been completely renovated and is furnished as a second home with antiques but retaining the comforts of modern living such as central heating.
The beautiful old farmhouse is spacious with 3 separate seating areas:
A large sitting room with open fire,
A stunning separate dining room with woodburner
A lovely south facing conservatory.
A small office offering wifi.
The farmhouse kitchen has an Aga, as well as an electric oven, small electric hob as well as a small microwave.
Utility Room: Washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer,
Upstairs 1 bathroom and 2 shower rooms serve the 4 double bedrooms. The house is ideal for those with limited mobility, as it has a proper lift to the upstairs area, (by prior arrangement only). Two of the large bedrooms are double aspect and have king sized beds and the twin rooms either overlook the garden or open countryside.
With the flexibility of the lift, Gould's Farmhouse is an ideal house for a family holiday. Plenty of room for the children to play indoors and out but providing quieter areas for the older generation, allowing 3 generations to holiday together happily, and the dog can come too! (By prior agreement)
The towels and linen are included. Please bring your own beach towels. Cot quilt and cot linen are NOT provided.
Outside: The large mature garden, which is fully enclosed, has flower beds, shrubs and mature trees for shade. The extensive lawns provide plenty of space for children to play. There is a picnic table that seats 8. BBQ and sun loungers for 8. Off street parking for 4 cars.
The house is within easy walking distance of the post office and village stores, providing basic provisions, and a pub
The pretty village location offers easy access to the world famous Jurassic Coast and is in the centre of Thomas Hardye country - the fictional town of Casterbridge (Dorchester) being 8 miles distant.
The stunning coastline at Lulworth Cover and Durdle Door is just 14 miles away. Within easy reach is the Isle of Purbeck with Corfe Castle and the beautiful beaches of Swanage, Studland and Shell Bay.
About a 30 minute drive away is Weymouth Bay, host to 2012 Olympic Sailing, which boasts long sandy beaches with traditional beach entertainments such as donkey rides and Punch and Judy.
Within 20 minutes you can visit the acclaimed Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum. For the younger visitors Farmer Palmers is less than 30 minutes away. Venturing a little further afield the New Forest and Peppa Pig World can be reached within an hour and the historic small city of Salisbury is about 35 minutes away.
