The Fisher Gallery is a gorgeous 18th Century (B-listed) mid-terraced house located in the centre of Pittenweem, one of the charming fishing villages found along the Fife Coastal Path. For the last 20 years home to an artist couple and their gallery, census data shows that even back in the mid 1840’s the property, listed as two separate dwellings, was part business as it housed amongst others a Drapery and one of several Fleshers in the High street around that time. Today, still boasting some original features with wooden beams throughout, it is full of character and charm.
Entry to the property from the side and you will come into a small lobby area off with access to the private courtyard to the rear – a great space for enjoying peaceful summer evenings with a drink. Bypassing the sunroom takes you, with a step up, through to the main house where the kitchen and downstairs toilet can be found. Further through to the open plan living and dining area that used to be the gallery. It has a beautiful stone chimney fireplace with an electric wood burner effect fire.
There is a spiral staircase leading to the first floor where you will find two spacious bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a king size, which can be split into two standard single beds. The first floor also has the main bathroom with bath and an attachment shower. From the landing stairs lead up to the 2nd floor to the shower room.
Pittenweem is a bustling fishing village and is known far and wide through its Art Festival, which occurs every year in early August. With all the local amenities on the doorstep, a fantastic local bakery, grocery shop, chocolate shop and cafés, pubs and restaurants and art galleries and craft shops. Within a handful of miles are farm shops, top class restaurants and a much wider selection of amenities.
There is so much to explore and discover in this beautiful part of Fife and beyond, with easy access to/from St Andrews, Edinburgh, Dundee, and Perth.
There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property.
