Catherine Cottage is a traditional fisherman’s cottage in the beautiful coastal village of Cellardyke in the East Neuk. With direct access to the shoreline from the enclosed garden, this quaint and quirky home will appeal to a small family and those who enjoy the peace and tranquility of the sea.
Set over three levels, this self-catering home can accommodate up to four guests. Located on the Fife Coastal path a few stone steps lead from the quiet street to the entrance. From here, there are steps leading down to the dining kitchen which has a large window looking out onto the garden. An enclosed passage to the side provides handy access for bikes or storing fishing nets and takes you into the cottage garden. There is a range of seating allowing you to enjoy the outdoors. At the end of the garden is a gate which opens directly onto the shoreline. The garden has been developed over many years with a variety of seasonal flowers as well as herbs and even grapes which guests are welcome to use.
The bedrooms and shower room are located on the first floor, both offering uninterrupted views of the sea and the Isle of May. The bright master bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has a single bed and an additional single trundle bed (most suitable for children) allowing this room to accommodate two guests. The shower room with walk in shower enclosure is also on this level.
The upper level has a lounge with cosy reading area and armchairs positioned by the windows to make the most of the idyllic views. Owned by an artist, Catherine Cottage blends traditional elements with coastal touches in a homely and welcoming style. Guests will delight in the ever changing views, from the spectacular sunsets to fishing boats sailing past and even the pods of dolphins who regularly swim by. Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum two). Parking is available on street.
With all the neighbouring villages easily reached along the coastal path or by car, there is an excellent range of cafes, restaurants and bistros locally as well as award-winning fish and chips. The East Neuk is very popular with walkers and those seeking an active break. Watersports are available locally, with the nearest tidal pool just a few minutes’ walk from the cottage. Golfers can choose between the many courses nearby including Anstruther, Crail, Kingsbarns and the Old Course- all within 15 minutes drive.
Please note that the stairs are narrow and so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues
