About this space
This is a highly distinctive property, which offers a unique holiday experience, new to the market for the first time in 2022.
Bunkershill is unlike any other property offering not only an amazing space to get away with family and groups alike but also providing you with an unparalleled outdoor experience with ponds to gaze into with its ecosystem of fish, frogs and toads, two acres of woodland for those tree climbers and a beautiful wildflower field to walk around.
The space
The house itself is spacious and filled with light. As well as five generous bedrooms, the property has a large living room, substantial dining room, utility room with brand new washing machine, dryer and dishwasher and a games room with a high quality table football table. The dining room, living room and three of the bedrooms offer breath-taking views over Mewslade valley, the sea and Devon in the distance. Electricity and hot water are provided by the solar array on the roof.
Bunkershill also offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature and the outdoors.
The house is set in five acres of grounds all for the exclusive enjoyment of guests. The grounds themselves are arranged into three distinct ecosystems: a pair of ponds topped with lilies and full of fish, frogs and toads; two acres of woodland; and a large wildflower field, with a pathway cut through the bracken to a spectacular viewing point looking out over the valley to the sea. During summer and autumn visitors can also enjoy a stroll through the orchard area and take their pick from fresh apples, pears, plums, raspberries, blueberries, figs and currants when they are ripe.
Beyond the property, visitors can explore some of the best loved parts of the Gower on foot. A 15 minute walk leads to Mewslade Bay, whereas a longer (25) minute walk takes visitors over Rhossili Down and into Rhossili Bay, which has been voted one of the top ten beaches in the world on more than one occasion (as well as the best beach in the UK and in Europe). A surfers’ paradise, Rhossili offers mighty Atlantic swells along its three miles of sand. The more adventurous will enjoy a scramble out to Worms’ Head (a tidal headland accessible for a small number of hours every day).
Further afield, visitors can travel by car to Mumbles, a beautiful fishing village with shops, cafes and restaurants. Swansea takes under 30 minutes to reach, with everything a modern city has to offer as well as a magnificent new marina. The main line rail station at Swansea gives access to London Paddington Station and the M4 motorway can be reached in about 40 minutes.
Bunkershill offers an unforgettable holiday for all the family. Guests should be aware that, due to the nature of the property, some of the stairways do not accommodate stair gates. The ponds are fenced off (with access via self-closing gates) where possible and the woods contain clear paths. However, families should consider whether they will be able to keep an eye on little ones with more mobility than common sense (!) in a property that is genuinely wild in parts.
