The cottage is located in the peaceful hamlet of Bronydd, just 2.5 miles from Hay on Wye by car, or 30 40 mins walk directly from the cottage on the Offas dyke footpath through fields and along the banks of the River Wye. Hay is a vibrant cultural market town famed for the annual book festival. With a castle and small independent cinema,Hay has an excellent selection of quirky shops, cafes, bars and restaurants along with a weekly farmers market (Thursdays) showcasing the seasonal local produce, cheese and crafts. In the warmer weather you can enjoy paddling on The Warren, the local beach on the banks of the river, or explore the area by pony trekking, renting a kayak or bikes (tandems too!) For walkers you are well served with immediate access onto the Offa s Dyke footpath from the cottage, and for the more adventurous there s Hay Bluff and Twmpa and the path along the Hatterrall ridge. Although spoilt for choice, for a quieter, easier walk but still with spectacular views, the roundabout walk on the Begwnns hills above Clyro is a good one to start with. Visit the Black Mountains where you can enjoy views across to Painscastle and down to Talgarth Common. Step inside and take a seat whilst you remove your boots after a day exploring, a boot room is set off the entrance hall offering the perfect space for wet boots and muddy dogs. The original hallway is full of character with limestone plastered walls and stone floors. A further utility with fridge/freezer sink and separate WC is at the far end of the hallway. Step on through into the kitchen warmed with an Aga (between October and Mid April) where you can take advantage of the Aga cookbooks when preparing supper. The area is well equipped with induction hob and electric oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. To the front of the cottage an inviting lounge with wood burner and flagstone floors that benefit from underfloor heating, furnished beautifully with sofas and armchairs where you can sit back and relax enjoying views out onto the cottage gardens or enjoy a movie from the collection of DVD s on the TV. There is a separate dining room that can accommodate guests. So, when the day is done climb the wooden stairs onto the large landing area, a space where you can hideaway with a good book or maybe pick up one of the books available within the owner s book swap. There are two bedrooms, a super king size zip and link that can be made into a twin room on request when booking. A King size room enjoying a dual aspect with views across the countryside, this room has an adjoining dressing room with single bed. There is a bathroom with original claw foot bath that s perfect for soaking, a separate shower and WC. Outside the front of the cottage is a raised terrace where you can find a BBQ and enjoy views across the Wye Valley up to the Hay Bluff and Twympa. The gardens are established cottage gardens with well stocked borders and a babbling brook at the end of the garden. There is an open carport where you can store bikes and off road parking for two cars. Dogs must be supervised in the garden and also not left unattended in the property at any time.
