The peaceful hamlet of Watledge is true quintessential England and steeped in history. The cottage shares its name and sits opposite the former watering hole Shears Inn . Nailsworth, once an important Cotswold mill town and now a unique shopping destination, boasts a wonderful selection of independent shops, cafes, delicatessens and arts and crafts to suit all tastes along with a fine selection of pubs and restaurants showcasing local food and ales. Watledge sits at the bottom of three large commons and The Cotswold Way passes nearby for keen walkers and cyclists, along with the historic canal with towpaths meandering through the valleys into Stonehouse. Visit the vibrant nearby town of Stroud, voted the best place to live in England 2021 and renowned for its farmers market. For those looking for a little more adventure there is the Cotswold Gliding Club offering day courses. Water sports at the Cirencester Water Park, Gatcombe Park for enthusiastic eventers, Westonbirt arboretum, Bath, Badminton, Tetbury and Cheltenham for the races, theatre and seasonal festivals including the renowned literature, food and jazz festivals to name but a few. Drink in the views across market town before you step inside. A stylish and suprising entrance hall welcomes you, where you can hang your hat after a day exploring, there is a cloakroom and steps down into the formal lounge. Here you can sink back into the sofas and relax with friends amongst the eclectic furnishings, the room enjoys high ceilings and a dual aspect with stunning views, and for chilly autumn evenings, you can draw the shutters and enjoy a good movie. A small sun room is situated off the lounge, where you can relax with a good book away from the crowds or build your empire with a game of monopoly, and for morning coffee you can step out onto a small terrace and watch the world go by. An open stairwell leads you to a formal dining room again finished with the same eclectic style and perfect for any celebration, a table and chairs take centre stage along with a lounge sofa for after dinner. For summer dining you can open the French doors onto the terrace. The main kitchen area off the dining hall is a well equipped space with electric oven, induction hob, microwave and wine chiller. A small characterful utility area offers a fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. For muddy boots and dogs there is a small lobby with bench and hanging space for coats. So, when the day is done climb the stairs where you will find three beautifully finished bedrooms spread across two floors. The first floor offers a cosy double room finished with an arts and crafts style where you can wake up and enjoy views across the many roof tops and gardens. A master bedroom with an oak king size bed and carefully chosen original art. There is a generously sized wet room on this floor. The second floor offers a twin bedroom, finished with beautiful wallpaper and dual aspect offering stunning views of the hamlet and town. This floor also offers the opportunity to hide away in the bathroom and soak in the roll top bath. Outside the cottage enjoys a sheltered, large terrace, a generous table and chairs where you can sit and relax over a glass of wine. This private area transforms into a Mediterranean haven when the sun goes down and the ambient lighting showcases the mature fig tree. There is off road parking for one car, along with roadside parking subject to availability.
