Built of local stone over three floors, its large rooms, with high ceilings and superb furnishings provide an air of luxurious ambience throughout. The main entrance leads through a flagstone hallway to a magnificent drawing room with feature open fireplace. There is a charming snug beyond, offering further public space. The spacious farmhouse kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped. Deep stone archways lead through to a large dining room beyond.
Hill House (ref UKC2182) enjoys stunning views across the grounds to the fishing lochs, and the seascape of the renowned Cromarty Firth beyond. This traditional, detached stone built house is furnished to a high standard throughout. The spacious living room has a wood burner and double bay windows so you can take in the surrounding views.
Swiss Cottage (UKC2184) is a delightful, detached, stone cottage, with a distinctive Alpine style. Its large windows and charming balcony add to the charm and ambience. The living space runs the length of the top floor and provides wonderful views across the manicured lawns and country landscape.
Grieve’s Cottage (SMMM) is a great choice for families or groups of friends. There are three comfortable bedrooms, one being on the ground floor making Grieve’s Cottage an ideal choice for the less mobile.
Gardener’s Cottage (SMMK) is a stunning cottage for 4 people and is a true jewel in the crown. With French doors opening on to the patio, this is a perfect cottage for luxury and relaxation.
Balnagown Estate is just a 45-minute drive north of Inverness, and close to the historic sandstone town of Tain. Set in the grounds of Balnagown Castle, this is ideal for anyone wanting luxury accommodation for the whole family to enjoy. There are various facilities on site, including extensive cycle tracks, fishing, both on the river and in lochs, archery and a wonderful sports hall providing a host of indoor activities such as badminton, basketball, volleyball, pool and table tennis. For wildlife enthusiasts, the observation tower in the grounds offers a wonderful vantage point from which to observe the myriad of wildlife in the local area.
There are numerous places of interest in the region. In the nearby village of Dornoch, a visit to the History Links Museum is recommended, or a game of golf can be enjoyed on the famous links world class championship course. Shin Falls Visitor Centre, Dunrobin Castle, the Timespan Heritage Centre, Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve and John O’Groats are all within easy reach. Beach 3 miles.
