Bleak House Lodge was built in 1801 as the lodge house for Bleak House, made famous in the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens. Located in a quite street in the heart of Broadstairs, the cottage is just a few moments walk from both Viking Bay and Stone Bay, as well as the many restaurants, cafes and bars the town has to offer. The property has been sympathetically renovated in 2014. It has stripped wooden floors and cast iron radiators. Where possible original features have been maintained, creating an authentic period atmosphere. There are separate living and dining rooms, both with open fires. Two bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room. Beds have very comfortable deep, sprung mattresses and are dressed with good quality white bed linen. There is also a beautiful south facing walled garden and terrace with table, chairs and a webber barbecue. The living room has a smart TV and wifi is available throughout the property. The living room opens up through to another sitting room (which opens onto the garden). This has a sofa, chair and extending dining table. The house is suitable for small children as the staircase leading from the dining room has a door. A travel cot/bed guards, and a high chair are available for use, also a small box of toys for younger children, and some games and books.
Located in Broadstairs, this vacation home is near theme parks and near the beach. Dickens House Museum and Granville Theatre are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at North Foreland Golf Club and Ramsgate Royal Harbour and Marina. Traveling with kids? Consider Broadstairs Leisure, or check out an event or a game at Dreamland. Spend some time exploring the area's activities, including outlet shopping, golfing, and swimming.
