Adventure House is located on Flowergate on the west side of Whitby, just a 4-minute walk to the swing bridge which connects the two halves of the town Flowergate is a haven of unique cafés with freshly homemade treats to tempt you in, as well as an artists studio, where you can watch as the artist paints atmospheric seascapes in the shop window There is also an array of independent shops to browse through and an eclectic mix of traditional old pubs and modern quirky bars. The glorious long golden beach stretching all the way to Sandsend is only a 5-minute walk away, or for family fun there are the arcades on pier road and children love to try their luck at crabbing at kiddies corner by the bridge The East side of Whitby has the narrow cobbled streets, with the 199 steps leading up to St Marys Church and the gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey. The town is steeped in history, which you can explore further at one of the museums or on one of the ghost walks Surrounding Whitby you have the picturesque North York Moors National Park, with vast rolling moorland and ancient forests, laced with walking trails. Along the coast there are some unmissable little bays and fishing villages which are all perfect for days out, including Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay For the adventurous, why not join the local surf school, or hire a rowing boat or kayak for a sunny day along the river Esk, ziplining in Dalby Forest, or hire a bike for a ride along the cindertrack which takes you from Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay and beyond Flamingo Land theme park and zoo is also near so there are attractions nearby for everyone!
