A holiday experience in itself, Sykes Lodge is a spectacular conversion of a range of Edwardian farm buildings with an aristocratic heritage. Whilst standing at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, a stone's throw from Castle Howard and only 16.3 miles from the historic City of York, the property sits in a parkland setting in some of Yorkshire's most outstanding and peaceful countryside, only 3.3 miles from the vibrant market town of Malton, itself consistently listed in The Times Best Places to Live guide. Once part of the Estate of a leading English aristocrat, Sykes Lodge is set in 10 acres of parkland and bears witness to England's agricultural and social heritage. Whilst embracing the highest standards of modern design and technological standards, the wealth of historic features in the property preserve the integrity of their richly documented past. The accommodation is aimed particularly at multi-generational family groups, with six well-presented bedrooms to choose from to ensure a flexible sleeping arrangement to suit the needs of your group. Here, you will find two super-king-size bedrooms with en-suites, a super-king-size bedroom and three twin bedrooms which are serviced by a further two bathrooms. Spend sociable evenings within the open-plan living room, which boasts an extraordinary vaulted kitchen with a wide range of appliances and equipment including wine and drinks chiller and coffee-making machine, as well a formal dining table and plush sofas. After dinner, retire to the sitting room where a woodburning stove and TV awaits you, or spend a moment or two within the library which provides a wealth of visitor and historical information and a variety of fiction and non-fiction books for you and your loved ones to enjoy. Continuing to impress, wherever possible, particular attention has been paid to access for less-able guests, with the provision of wide doorways and easy exterior thresholds, to the wheelchair-friendly courtyard surfaces and interior flooring. To the outside, look forward to exploring the ample seating areas, with a BBQ for rustling up some summer treats before you dip into a bubbling commercial grade Jacuzzi Spa located within the courtyard. A short car journey will bring you to Malton, which is a superb destination hub for niche shopping and particularly as a showcase for local produce, ensuring that there's no better place to enjoy a choice of high quality cuisine from country pubs to the best of independent restaurants. Malton also boasts its own cinema, golf course and mainline railway station with direct links to York, Scarborough and Leeds. For the nostalgic traveller, hop on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway at the nearby town of Pickering, promising a fabulous way to experience the unsurpassed Yorkshire landscape to the coast. Sykes Lodge is an outstanding base for a family gathering to this part of Yorkshire.
