Whitby is a town that offers something a little different to your typical coastal resort. Famous for its connections to Bram Stoker s Dracula, Whitby has always embraced its Gothic culture and you can climb the 199 steps on the East Cliff to visit the Abbey Ruins. Whitby town has old and historic streets, where in the past seafarers and smugglers have roamed, and you will walk on the ornate cobbled paths, which has locally owned shops and quirky cafes that give Whitby its intriguing yet welcoming atmosphere. Being by the sea, you ll also get to enjoy classic seaside fun and food with locally caught crab, scampi fish and lobster as well as building sandcastles on the beach and walks along the pier. Whitby is also a place for Explorers, with its connection to the famous voyager, Captain James Cook. The great man is immortalised in a monument up on West Cliff, where he can be seen looking out to his favourite place, the sea. Step into the hallway, hang your coat and leave behind your walking boots. Head into the kitchen and dining area where there is a large captain s table for eight guests to dine with your family or friends. The well equipped kitchen is a delight to cook in and offers an electric double oven, a further oven which is also a microwave, electric hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine. Come together around the table for breakfast and plan the day ahead. Later, after dinner, wander through the double doors to the lounge, take a seat on the two comfy leather sofas, and chair, and watch the Smart TV or listen to some music.
