Nestled in the mature woods of Blindburn, close to the village of Wark near Bellingham in Northumberland, is this beautiful, contemporary, four-bedroom chalet-style cottage, Romsey Lodge. Enjoying a superb location in the heart of the Northumberland countryside, on the banks of the North Tyne River, reportedly the finest salmon river in England, and just a short drive away from the scenic Kielder Forest. Park-up on the ample driveway, before being greeted by sprawling countryside and river views from a front Indian flagstone terrace with furniture. Be welcomed into the stylish open-plan living space, where you can look forward to cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen, featuring a handy dishwasher, ready to enjoy at the large dining table for eight in front of the large bi-fold doors, ensuring you never miss out on the amazing views. Alternatively, eat alfresco out in the gardens. There is also an integral wine fridge for keeping your favourite bottle chilled! After dinner, retire to the sitting room, where you can relax in front of the flames of the woodburning stove as your chosen film plays out on the Smart TV with Amazon Fire TV. Just off the kitchen, you will find a utility room housing a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer for your convenience. Completing the ground floor is a well-presented double bedroom with Jack-and-Jill shower room. Climb the open wood and glass stairs to the first floor, where you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the bath or wash away the day with a refreshing shower in the gorgeous family bathroom, whilst enjoying more superb river and countryside views! When sleep calls, you will find three further bedrooms. The super-king-size has incredible river and countryside views and its own en-suite shower room. The remaining two bedrooms provide king-size beds, all of which offer plenty of storage and hanging space for your belongings. After a leisurely wake-up, head out into your private garden where you can enjoy the expansive countryside and river views and perhaps seek out your catch of the day in the North Tyne River, thanks to the owner’s fishing rights!*. Keep a look out for the local wildlife, with waterbirds in plentiful supply, deer and badgers passing through the property on their daytime and evening perambulations, and if you're really lucky, you may catch a glimpse of our timid otter! A wildlife telescope is provided within the dining area and can be used through the wide bi-fold doors in any weather. There are many public footpaths and bridleways in the area, including a very enjoyable and scenic circular walk of approximately 3.5 miles from the property, encompassing a mile or so of river bank, followed by farmland and spectacular views from the top of the local hills; all of this is directly from your front door! On those evening’s when you don’t feel like cooking, treat your loved ones to a tasty meal and local ales after walking to the popular Battlesteads Hotel & Restaurant, or just pop out for a pint in the little Grey Bull pub. The village is also home to a Gothic church and a sports club offering football and cricket pitches, a tennis and basketball court and a children’s play area. For a wider selection of amenities, head over to Bellingham, where you can test out your clubs at the excellent golf club, embark on a hike along the Hareshaw Iron Works Trail or indulge in a sweet treat at the Carriages Tea Room. Next stop is the famous Hadrian’s Wall where you can walk in the footsteps of the Romans, as well as the English Heritage site of Housesteads Roman Fort which can be found nearby. Continue onto Hexham, where you can explore the wonders of its 12th-century abbey and Old Gaol, or take in the beauty of the Kielder Forest Park, where you can expect spectacular views and wildlife-rich walks.
