The centre of bustling Newquay is easily reached, but there is so much more to the town including the stunning Gannel Estuary, a wildlife haven and perfect spot for a picnic or to enjoy the latest water sport of stand-up paddle boarding. There are several excellent restaurants and café bars close by and superb walks along the picturesque coastal path. A locals’ favourite is the stroll along the beach to the beach bar or pizzeria at Fistral Beach with stunning ocean views and ciders galore, or just simply enjoy some of Rick Stein’s fish and chips on the beach as the sun sets.
Newquay is home to some of the best surfing beaches in Europe, and there are many surf schools in the town providing qualified tutors. Ocean Mist is close to Fistral Beach, which can be reached along a sandy path that leads through the nearby golf course. Newquay also has a working harbour, tropical gardens, a Sea Life centre, zoo, local farm shop, golf course within walking distance from the apartment, horse riding, bicycle hire, sea trips for fishing and two leisure centres. It is also surrounded by many tourist attractions for all ages including go karting, Crealy Adventure Park, Dairyland, a Japanese garden and Trerice Manor, a National Trust house and garden. The whole coastline is dotted with beaches and fishing villages from St Agnes in the south to Padstow in the north, with its fine dining and many excellent restaurants including those of the TV chef Rick Stein.
Padstow is a must as it provides a day and evening out for the whole family. Wander the narrow streets and enjoy the evening by the working harbour or hire a bike and cycle along the famous Camel Trail, a flat off-road trail that hugs the shore of the estuary. At Watergate Bay, 2 miles from Newquay, you can eat in Jamie Oliver’s restaurant and then take advantage of the wide beach which is home to the British Kite Surfing Centre. Truro, Fowey, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all easily reached from this perfectly positioned ground floor apartment. Beach 400 yards.
