One of the beaches has golden sand and sheltered coves and the other is a must for those who like rock pools, crabs and fishing nets. Popular with surfers this small cove produces good waves from low to mid tide.
The cliffs to the north of the beach provide fantastic walks and views to Hawkers Cove, the Camel Estuary and beyond. Beware the ‘Blow Hole’ on the cliffs – a natural phenomenon which draws the crowds!
Less than two miles away is Padstow, the Cornish hotspot famous for its bustling harbour and fantastic restaurants. Padstow is a working fishing port, and the starting point of the Camel Cycle Trail. Enjoying a reputation as a foodie destination, Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and Paul Ainesworth at No.6 sit at the top of the list of ‘must visit’ restaurants.
The Padstow Museum is home to an interesting collection of memorabilia giving an insight into the history of Padstow over the past two centuries. The picturesque harbour of Padstow is full of character and historical interest and has an eclectic mix of fisherman’s cottages and merchant’s houses The attractive harbour offers a range of boat trips from wildlife spotting to angling or just messing about on the water and enjoying the sunshine. You can even go out with a local fisherman. Also popular are the ferry trips over to the upmarket resort village of Rock, second home to many celebrities. The Black Tor passenger ferry takes around five to ten minutes to cross the river and runs throughout the year. From Rock, there are some wonderful walks along the coast to the spectacular beaches of Daymer Bay and Polzeath.
Harlyn and Constantine Bays are wonderful, Constantine Bay is gorgeous with one of the best surfing beaches in Cornwall and boasts a sweeping arc of gently shelving golden sand. The inspirational Eden Project is only just over twenty miles away.
