Just 15 miles away you will find the Weardale hills where there a great number of stunning walks for everyone from the avid hiker to the leisurley strollers and dog walkers. Nearby you can visit the famous Kynren, a production showing two thousand years of English history, a popular show amongst tourists not to be missed. Venture into the city of Durham and discover its glorious cathedral along with a plethora of attractions for all ages. Uncover the city's history at the Durham Castle before strolling through the bountiful gardens and grounds. For children and the adventurous type, Beamish Wild offers high rope courses amongst ancient woods for an action-packed day out with the family. Branching further afield, spend the day at the beach; the fantastic coast is within easy reach by car, where you can build sandcastles, take part in watersports, and finish the day off with a traditional fish and chip supper before heading back to the house.
