From here you can enjoy the best of both worlds: doorstep access to one of the Lake District s finest towns, as well its most beautiful walks, cycle trails, water sports and tourist attractions. Ambleside is undoubtedly one of the best bases to explore the Lake District and is particularly popular with climbers and walkers. From the doorstep are walks to suit every ability, from the classic Fairfield Horseshoe to more child friendly loops. A 0.5 mile stroll brings you to the head of Windermere where you can hire a boat or catch a ferry to Bowness on Windermere or Brockhole activity centre. This property is ideal for bringing together large groups, four dogs are also welcome. Occupying an elevated position, it is tucked away on a quiet road in the heart of Ambleside and enjoys first floor panoramic views across to Loughrigg Fell. Built in the 1770s, this historic property has been both an artist s studio and a youth hostel. Many of the original features such as fireplaces and wooden shutters, have been lovingly restored. Enter the property via a large boot room. This opens into the spacious but welcoming kitchen that retains some useful commercial features such as deep sinks and a hot water urn, perfect for making about 16 cups of tea in one fell swoop! There is a large gas range style hob, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. The laundry room has a washing machine and tumble dryer, with secure storage for up to 3 bikes. Along the corridor from the kitchen, you will find the enormous dining room. Light floods through the large windows, showing off the original plaster ceiling, wooden floors, and marble fireplace. The tables can be arranged flexibly to comfortably seat 16 guests in any configuration. Round off the day in front of the wood burner stove in the cosy lounge. On the first floor are four spacious bedrooms, with original feature fireplaces and large picture windows with fell views. There is one king size and one twin bedroom, both with wash basin. There is also a single bedroom and a family bedroom with a four poster double and a single bed. A plentiful supply of WCs and showers mean that you will never need to queue! Soak in fell views from the bath or take your pick from one of five showers: a single modern shower room or four private shower cubicles, spread across two rooms. There are also two separate WCs. On the second floor, you can stargaze through the Velux windows and catch the mountaintops. There is a king size bedroom with wash basin, a single and a dorm style room with 5 single beds. Parking for three cars, There is a slight gradient when entering the car park, if driving a low fronted car/sports car, please drive slowly into the car park, you are less than 0.25 miles from the local amenities such as shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, bakeries, a cinema, park with well equipped play areas, mini golf and tennis courts. Tucked behind the property is a cosy two bed apartment that is also available for rent, meaning you can accommodate a total of 20 friends or family.
