From the estate you can walk the mile into Castle Carrock where there is a fantastic country pub serving home-made food. Other pretty walks can be enjoyed around Gelt Woods, Greenwell, or up Carrock fell, which offers breath-taking views.
Brampton, 4 miles, is one of the main market towns in the North Pennines, and stands in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is the ideal base from which to explore Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District National Park, and the rarely explored rural villages straddling Cumbria and Northumberland.
