A short trip down to the ferry provides access to the west shore of Lake Windermere with outstanding mountain bike trails, especially along the lake trail, access to Hawkshead and the magical Tarn Hows area. All the facilities of Bowness-on-Windermere are on the doorstep and the not to be missed attractions include the hand-made chocolate shop and the wonderful walks along the Bowness promenade where the many cruise ships run down the Lake to Ambleside. Discover picturesque local walks along footpaths bordering the site, including the Dales Way which runs by the golf club and Crook and Staveley and for the more adventurous walks across to Cartmel Fell. Further afield walk to Brant Fell which provides stunning views over Lake Windermere and its surrounding fells, including the Langdales and Crinkle Crags which offer some of the most outstanding challenges in this wonderful area. A great destination with all the ingredients for a memorable Lakeland holiday.
