This cottage offers a fabulous base to explore Cumbria, the Lake District and the Scottish Borders. It is situated just 3 miles from Carlisle and only 12 miles from Gretna Green. There is a golf course just 1 mile away, so for any keen golfers, bring your clubs! Carlisle is a fascinating city; it has a beautiful cathedral and castle in the city centre. The Lake District is only 20 miles away where you can visit Ullswater and take a trip on one of the famous steamers, or conquer the stunning Catbells or Skiddaw where you can see for miles from the summits. The property occupies the wing of a Victorian house, where the owner lives on site yet privacy is guaranteed. Set over three floors, it has lots of original features and a traditional feel, with a contemporary twist on the second floor. As you walk through the front door and into the lobby, you will find a tiled floor that opens into the main hallway with parquet flooring, a chandelier, and a sweeping staircase. At the foot of the staircase, you will find the spacious formal lounge with retro chairs and seating, a wonderful contrast to the traditional styling in the room. There is a large bay window, chandeliers, and views through to the dining room which overlooks open fields and fells. Relax in the lounge where there is ample seating and SkyTV. Across the hallway, you will find a small informal lounge with TV, games console and sofa (which is also a double sofa bed), plus there is an accessible wet room with a shower and WC within this room. You can access the kitchen from this lounge or head back through the hallway. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and fridge/freezer. There is a TV in the kitchen as well as a small informal dining table, perfect to grab some breakfast or a coffee before heading out to explore. From the kitchen, you will find a lovely formal dining area within the conservatory. This room looks across the lounge and is also accessible from the formal lounge. There is a large dining table for the party to gather around, watch the sun go down, and discuss the day s events. Hidden away under the staircase you will find a convenient WC. As you head up the beautiful staircase to the first floor, you will find a huge landing window overlooking the garden and fells, there is a spacious landing area with antique seating, offering the perfect spot to get away from the rest of the group and enjoy a good book. On the first floor, you will find four spacious bedrooms, a king size with a TV, a double, a twin, and a single room. There is also a family bathroom with original glass wall panelling from years gone by it has a separate bath, shower and WC. The second floor has been recently renovated and offers a fabulous master suite in the eaves with a super king size bed, en suite shower room with WC, feature beams, exposed brick walls, a lounge area with a corner sofa and TV, and bi folding doors to a balcony. The balcony area has seating and offers the most amazing setting to watch the sunrise. Heading outside from the kitchen/dining area, you will find the garden which has a sandstone patio, garden furniture, low level lighting, a children's play area and BBQ. The garden overlooks open countryside and is a great suntrap to enjoy dining alfresco or a few drinks. There is a village shop and pub within 500 yards and a much wider selection within a mile in Carlisle. There is private parking on the drive in front of the house for up to five cars.
