The farmhouse occupies a charming spot in the hamlet of Witherslack between Windermere and Morecambe Bay. There are wonderful trails for walkers and cyclists, with local beauty spots including Bigland Barrow (7 miles) and Fell Foot Park (6 miles) at the foot of Windermere. Nature lovers can spot wildlife at the nearby Foulshaw Moss, Meathop Moss Nature Reserve and Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve (all within 3 miles) where you may glimpse ospreys and deer. Other local attractions and landmarks include Sizergh Castle (6.5 miles), Levens Hall (8.5 miles) and Holker Hall and Gardens (8 miles). You can take a cruise across Windermere itself, or enjoy a meal in pretty market towns like Cartmel (6 miles) and Newby Bridge (5 miles). Entering this traditional farmhouse via the door to the rear of the property, the stone flagged utility area is a useful space for leaving coats and muddy boots. The utility area also features a WC, washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and space for dogs to unwind. Exploring further, the impressive kitchen/diner is a sociable space, perfect for everyone to gather, chat, plan the day s adventures and enjoy a hearty meal. Dominated by a farmhouse dining table, the kitchen also features a wood burner with comfortable seating, exposed beams, ceiling hooks and the original wooden floor which has the added benefit of underfloor heating. The kitchen is kitted out with a range of equipment including a fridge, dishwasher, a range (solar powered during the day) with three ovens and a ceramic hob, a hand blender, bread maker and a microwave which you ll find in the walk in pantry. A step leads up into the main lounge: a relaxing space with flagstone floor, a cosy wood burner and a window seat, as well as a Smart TV and plenty of seating. The ground floor has a lovely wood panelled snug, also with a TV, window seat and a wide selection of books. Heading upstairs, the first floor landing features a window seat overlooking the gardens. There are five tastefully furnished and elegantly decorated bedrooms: a dual aspect twin room, three king size rooms and a single room with a spacious double bed. The first floor also has a delightful family bathroom complete with a claw bath, hand held shower, walk in shower and WC, as well as two shower rooms, each with a shower and WC. Going outside, the extensive gardens provide a tranquil and relaxing spot for you to spend an idyllic afternoon with a glass of wine or enjoy a spot of al fresco dining. The sloping front garden features a lawn and mature shrubs, with the lawn continuing past the side of the house to the back of a former smokehouse where you will find a smaller garden area with plenty of outdoor furniture. You can store bikes in the barn (guests are required to bring their own bike locks etc), and there s plenty of car parking space. Three cars can park to the rear of the house, and there s also space for two more cars at the front by the arched garden entrance. Please note the garden has a number of outbuildings which are not for guests to use.
