Nestling amongst rolling Derbyshire countryside, the surrounding landscape offers some spectacular walking and mountain biking routes, with bike hire available locally. Visit nearby Crich Tramway Village and museum (1.5 miles) for a trip back in time or Gulliver s Kingdom (6.5 miles) with its ride and attractions. Just 4 miles away is the bustling market town of Belper and slightly further but only 15.5 miles from the property is the famous market town of Bakewell. Home of the famous Bakewell Pudding, you can also visit nearby Chatsworth House, gardens and farm shop which is an unmissable day trip if you re in the Bakewell area. Matlock Bath and Matlock town are also within easy reach and within a 7 mile radius. The spa town of Buxton (26.5 miles) offers a wealth of independent shops and eateries along with the Buxton Opera House. Built as a Corn Mill in the 18th century, this unique property has repurposed many of the original features including some of the original stone grinding wheels forming part of the kitchen floor and the table itself. Step into the hallway where there is plenty of space for coats and boots. Wander through to the traditional cottage style kitchen with a stone floor, exposed beams, wood burner and mill stone with seating around. There is an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. Curl up with a good book in the comfy seating next to the wood burner or relax on the bar stools chatting with the chef. The dining room is a wonderful space to come together and enjoy a family Sunday dinner, with a feature wood burner effect electric fire in the fireplace and spacious dining furniture for six. There is a handy downstairs WC and a utility room offering a washing machine and tumble dryer. Head upstairs to the lounge which has wood flooring and comfy seating, situated around the open fire with piano and Smart TV. There are two doors leading out to the garden which are lovely to open in the summer months and let the countryside air in. There is a super king size zip and link bedroom which can be made into twin upon request, with lovely views over mature trees. The shower room offers an enclosed shower and WC. Heading up to the second floor, you will find two lovely bedrooms: a king size with exposed stonework and beams, and a super king size zip and link bedroom which can be made into twin upon request, with additional walk in wardrobe space and views over the garden. From the lounge you can step out onto the enclosed patio with barbecue and seating, with shallow steps leading to an enclosed lawn. From here you can step through the gate to 1/2 acre of designated conservation area to which you have private access and are free to roam, comprising lawns perfect for outdoor family games such as cricket, and well established borders of trees and shrubs. This leads to a wildlife pond with resident moorhens and visiting ducks, please take care with children and pets. L isten to the sound of running water from the private waterfall which flows outside the kitchen and lounge windows, passing the space which once held the original water wheel that powered the mill. You will not find manicured lawns here as the owners focus their efforts on keeping the local wildlife happy and offering them a place to call home, a t dusk you can hear owls hooting in the mature trees surrounding the garden. There is a stream bordering the lawn which is perfectly shallow enough for dogs, children and adults alike to splash around in. At different times of the year you can forage for local produce including an abundance of wild garlic on the banks of the stream during spring. The orchard is carpeted with bluebells in the spring, full of apple blossom in the summer, and in late summer and early autumn you are welcome to pick your own apples. From the doorstep you can set off on countryside walks through fields and mature woodland, taking in sights including Crich Stand and calling at dog friendly pubs and cafes on the way. There is off road parking for three cars.
