Clover Cottage is a quintessentially English Country Cottage that is situated right on the waterfront of Hooe Lake. Built of stone around 1690 and Grade II listed, it is full of character and charm, with its lake views and waterside garden, it’s the ultimate escape for a couple seeking to explore the stunning coast of Devon. This beautiful abode is sure to be one you’ll want to return to. Hooe Lake covers 14 hectares and is privately owned and managed, it is accessible to the public and an ideal location for paddle boarding and kayaking. The site is tidal, containing mudflats and open water habitats and is designated as a County Wildlife Site. Upon entering the cottage, you will find an open-plan living area, with its snug sitting room with inglenook fireplace and wood burner at one end and the kitchen/diner at the other end, making it a great space to relax and unwind while your other half prepares a romantic meal. A good range of appliances are at hand both in here and the convenient utility, perfect for when you're not out exploring the local delicacies. The window seat in the sitting room makes a lovely spot to enjoy a good book or to just relax and watch the ever-changing views across the lake. The light and airy bathroom is also located on the ground floor. As the evening drawers to a close, the stairs to your bedroom wind up from the sitting room, with its king size bed, crisp cotton bedding, whitewashed stone wall, ornamental wood burner and cottage window where in the morning you can check out the weather across the lake and makes plans for your day ahead. Halfway up the stairs to the first floor you will find the door to the secluded back garden, a perfect sheltered location where you can soak up the sun in privacy. Across the driveway you will find the gate to the front enclosed lakeside garden, a perfect location for morning coffee, pre-dinner drinks or a spot of dinner cooked on the Gas BBQ, whilst admiring the beautiful boats on the lake. Just a 30-minute stroll along the South Coast Pathway, past the Marinas and a couple of well-known pubs and restaurants, is the Mount Batten ferry which takes you straight over to The Barbican in the port City of Plymouth. It is famed for its exciting maritime heritage and historic Barbican district, here you can expect to find fun for all tastes, with some of its most popular attractions including the National Maritime Museum, the Plymouth Gin Distillery, Hoe Park and Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park. Or closer to the cottage, Hooe is home to both a minimarket for all of your amenities as well as a pub to enjoy a refreshing pint, while the property, due to it sitting on the South West Coastal Path, lets you explore Devon's stunning scenery by foot or bike, something your canine companion is sure to love. The avid golfer can enjoy a driving range near to Elburton or a major golf club at Staddon Heights, while a wider range of attractions can be found in the port city of Plymouth.
