Local Attractions
Plant World's four acres of landscaped hilltop gardens representing each of the five continents has been called Devon's 'little outdoor Eden' and has featured on national TV. Rare exotic plants can be bought in the plant nursery. Parking, picnic area and nursery entry are all free which is a five minute drive away. Torre Abbey beach, Anstey's cove, Vistos Lounge which is a snazzy bar and restuarant are all only ten minutes drive away. The Babbacombe's Model Village is Torquay's most popular and visited attraction.
Representing British life and culture over the last five decades all in miniature. Animated scenes, along with touches of very English humour bring it all to life. I would certainly visit the Babbacombe Downs for lovely cliff top views above Babbacomebe beach and Oddicombe beach, where you can enjoy a trip on the Oddicombe Cliff Railway. St Marychurch has Bygones which has three floors of pure nostalgia for ALL AGES!
A mere 10 minute drive to the district of Wellswood is Kents Cavern a prehistoric cave, home of ancient humans, and award winning visitor attraction that rivals Cheddar Gorge.. For sports enthuiasts, Torquay United play all their home games 10 minutes drive away at Plainmoor and next to the groud is a twenty-five metre indoor swimming pool and indoor bowls centre. For the braver outdooor sports' enthusiasts at Cary Park in Babbacombe there are the tennis courts and outdoor bowls greens and Petitor Golf Club. Looking at seawater activity Oddicombe beach is a great spot for kayaking and Stand Up paddleboarding as well as windsurfing and babbacombe beach, with its small pier and rocks is popular and great for fishing.
Pure Gym Britain biggest gym chain is five minutes up the road and then after your session you can also walk up to McDonalds opposite the gym for a guilt free lunch. Again don't forget it is just a ten-minute drive to the harbour end of town and all the boat trips and water activities you could think of. Agatha Christie's Home National Trust. Galmpton. English Riviera Leisure Centre Torquay. Cockington Village & Country park Historic Manor & thatched cottages.
