Originally a water mill, this 19th century stone built retreat which is annexed to the owners home is set in an idyllic location amid rolling countryside, dotted with beautiful rivers and streams. With a multitude of scenic walks and cycle routes from the doorstep, you can go for miles without seeing anyone except the sheep and their lambs, creating the perfect countryside getaway for couples, whatever the time of year. The historic burgh of Langholm, the birthplace of renowned engineer Thomas Telford, is just 6 miles away where you will find two excellent butchers and a couple of local pubs serving home cooked food. Eskdalemuir is only 6 miles away and Kagyu Samye Ling, the first Tibetan Buddhist temple to be established in the West, is well worth a visit. As you step into this wonderful property, there is a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive, a real home from home. Enter through the sunroom which is equipped with art materials and an easel if you fancy sketching or painting. Take a peek in the quirky downstairs WC, before venturing into the fully equipped kitchen, where the smell of homemade bread will greet you if you are early enough! Here you will find a gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, as well as a coffee maker with grinder, juicer, bread maker, fondue kit, slow cooker and more. The large open plan lounge/diner is really something special, with a sumptuous cuddle sofa, leather recliner and a one of a kind cottage craft dining table. Exposed stonework and a cathedral beam ceiling bring an enchanting feel to the interior. Settle down with the wood burner ablaze and take it all in. Follow the spiral staircase up to the stunning galleried bedroom. Featuring Velux roof windows which you can open up to watch the sky above, listen to the calming sounds of the river flowing nearby from the comfort of a king size bed dressed in luxury linen. The bedside aromatherapy diffuser with oils completes the mood. A separate dressing area leads onto an en suite bathroom with a walk in shower, WC and a spa bath, fully equipped with bath salts, washing toiletries, massage oils and toys, including floating wine glasses and rubber ducks! Emerge from the tub to Egyptian cotton bath sheets and spa dressing gowns and slippers. Head outside to the beautiful, fully enclosed garden surrounded by hills and fields, and let your canine friends explore the area whilst you relax in the seating area of your choice to watch the wildlife or the river flow by. In the evening, fire up the BBQ or the chiminea, enjoy the fairy lights dotted about or light the outdoor candles while you snuggle up in the blankets provided and listen to the babble of the river. There is a pond and four seating areas in the garden. There is also a secret path! Find it and explore the river, which is available for fishing if you fancy a go. There is off road parking for two cars.
