It's a perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales (8 miles), with the outskirts of the North York Moors within easy reach (19 miles). There are several idyllic villages nearby, including Moulton (0.5 miles) and Middleton Tyas (1.5 miles), or you could head up into the North Pennines (18 miles). There are several charming towns with plenty for you to discover including Northallerton (13.5 miles), Thirsk (21.5 miles) and Yarm (15 miles), which is set on the banks of the River Tees.
