The attractive village of Great Ayton lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. Great Ayton is famous for being the boyhood home of Captain Cook. Great Ayton has two village greens, with a river running alongside, making it a popular picnic spot. To the north of the village, the view is dominated by Roseberry Topping, a 330 metre hill. The village offers a good range of shops and inns, which, together with restaurants and cafes. There is also the old school, now converted into the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum. The coast is just over 12 miles away to Saltburn By The Sea, a Victorian seaside resort including its pier, the colourful Italian Gardens and walks through Riftswood. Saltburn has the oldest water balanced cliff tramway in Britain and it is still in operation today. On arrival, you will be quickly stunned by the view on the doorstep of Roseberry Topping and the proximity to which the cottage rests. Step inside the vestibule and then head through to the dining room which has a large dining table that can comfortably seat six. The lounge room leads from the dining room and has large windows providing lots of the morning sun through. At its heart is a wood burner, perfect for the chillier months. Sit back on the comfy sofas and put your feet up and watch a film on the Smart TV. Next door is a spacious modern kitchen yet retains character with the imposing stone wall. The kitchen has been equipped with everything you could need to rustle up delicious meals including an electric hob, oven, dishwasher and microwave, whilst the dining area provides the space to enjoy your meals over a well deserved glass of wine. Delight in the family bathroom with its corner bath and walk in shower, so you can enjoy a warm soak in the tub at the end of a tiring day, or a quick shower to prepare for your day ahead. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful views of the hills and farmland, take a seat on the bench and watch the ducks and geese.
