The general coastal area of North Cornwall is great for walkers with fantastic views and much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities, especially if you head to the coastal path which is easily accessed via Crackington Haven or Widemouth Bay Beaches. If the beach life is more your thing, then with miles of sand, paddling, and surfing you’ll be spoiled for choice in North Cornwall. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover within a short drive of this cottage including Boscastle, Morwenstow and stunning Tintagel, inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur. Further afield the fishing port of Padstow is a popular tourist destination. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited, you will want to come back to time and time again.
Bude has something for everyone including great beaches for relaxing and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafés to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the Southwest Coast Path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and a heritage centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, and an excellent information centre. Should you fancy crossing the border into Devon then Dartmoor National Park is just 23 miles or so to the southeast – here you can enjoy a day of walking and discover the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. Or search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape!
