Set at the foot of the Black Mountains, this property is simply perfect for relaxing or exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park. From your doorstep is Footpath 20 which leads you to the foothills of the Black Mountains and within walking distance is the small, unspoilt town of Talgarth with an excellent local butcher, delicatessen, the town stores, pharmacy and working mill and bakery. The beautiful River Wye offers riverside walks, fishing, canoeing and swimming. Hay on Wye, the renowned book town and famous for its annual literary festival is close by. Here you will find a variety of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. For evening entertainment there is Booth s cinema with a vibrant programme and the most comfortable cinema seats you could find anywhere. The accommodation forms part of the side wing of the owners home, (but is completely self contained and with its own entrance), originally a mid 18th century farm building that has over time been lovingly restored with high ceilings and exposed beams. It houses a treasure trove of artwork created by the owner and his contemporaries, including ceramics and paintings. Guests enter via the lower end of the house into a cosy lounge with a sofa, armchairs, TV, and a large wood burner with a generous supply of logs. From the lounge, you can access the dining area, which is the main room with the high ceiling, showing some of the larger paintings. The dining table takes centre stage and is perfect for entertaining with a galley kitchen cleverly tucked away across the rear wall. It is well equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, double sink, dishwasher and washing machine. When the day is done, there is a double bedroom with en suite shower and WC. Outside for the exclusive use of guests, there is a terrace adjoining the lounge with a BBQ and garden furniture and a step down to another seating area, both with fine views. Guests are also welcome to use the large well kept walled garden. There is a lock up shed and wash down for two bikes, plus and off road and secure parking for two cars inside the front courtyard.
