Cottage In Mid Wales, Clyro

Herefordshire. Sleeps up to 2

Once used as a threshing barn and granary for a farmstead, this delightful property has been lovingly converted into a serene bolthole that s perfect for couples. Situated next to the original farmhouse, the cottage is surrounded by 6 acres of gardens and meadows just 3 miles from the thriving market town of Hay on Wye, and 5 miles from the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Whether you are searching for a tranquil break or a more active holiday, you are well placed for exploring this quiet corner of the Welsh countryside. Stepping inside, the entrance hall opens onto an impressive living space that retains much of the property s original charm, featuring exposed stone, character beams, and arrow slit windows. The oak kitchen area is well equipped and provides plenty of worktop space. It has a fridge, electric oven and hob. Sit at the table with your evening meal or open the French doors to dine alfresco. Uncork a bottle of good wine and sink into the sofa whilst you watch TV. The handy downstairs utility room has a dishwasher, freezer, washing machine, microwave, and tumble dryer as well as plenty of storage space for coats and boots. Upstairs, the master bedroom has sloping ceilings and timber beams with beautiful views of the pond. It's the perfect haven after a busy day and has a delightful king size bed. Take advantage of the roll top bath in the bathroom and enjoy a well earned soak, or perhaps you would prefer the walk in shower. There is also a separate WC. The cottage shares a pretty courtyard with the owner s farmhouse, but towards the back of the property, there is a secluded private patio area complete with garden furniture and a BBQ for your exclusive use. This overlooks a lily pond that s brimming with wildlife, creating the perfect atmosphere for relaxing in the sunshine. From here, you can stroll through the orchard to find the shepherd s hut in an adjacent field, which boasts a wood burner, cosy seating, and panoramic views of the Wye Valley. The rural location means that there is little light pollution, so it is ideal for stargazing. When available, the owner is happy to give guests a tour of the sky from the observatory (the telescope is too complex to be used without guidance).
