Hay on Wye is famously known all over the world as the Town of Books . Boasting over twenty bookstores to browse, Hay is most popular during the annual Hay Festival during the last few weeks of May. The town also features a plethora of independent shops including art galleries, vintage shops, coffee shops, bakeries, vegetable shops, cosy pubs and much more. Once you've had your coffee and mooched through the bookstores, there's a range of outdoor activities in the area to fill your afternoons. You can walk to the River Wye from the cottage, which offers a pebble stone bank to wild swim in or relax by with a picnic. For the more adventurous types, there's kayaking, cycle routes, hikes, and activity centres aplenty. Set peacefully within the grounds of the owner s home this former apple store has been lovingly restored by the present owners. Here you will receive a friendly welcome along with a basket of goodies, including Welsh Lavender bath products, which are all complimentary with your stay. Step inside and a spacious entrance hall offers room for coats and boots along with a cloakroom with a WC. The ground floor offers a space that is perfect for friends wanting to get together. From the hallway you can access the dining area, finished with a large table and chairs with low lighting, and from here you can step down into the lounge, where a wood burner for chilly evenings awaits, along with a TV. The conservatory is next, a place where you can enjoy the warmth of the sun and get lost in a good book. You can also take advantage of the indoor herb garden. The kitchen/breakfast room is accessed from the hallway and is a great space and well equipped for the chefs of the group. This includes an electric oven and large gas hob, microwave, two fridges and a freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, as well as a breakfast bar with stools. For a more unique dining experience, the owner offers a range of freshly prepared Japanese set meals by arrangement. Upstairs there are three spacious bedrooms: two double bedrooms with en suite showers and WC and one twin room with en suite shower and WC. Outside you can relax within the walled gardens, enjoying summertime dining on the large, raised decking area, where there is also an open air cinema. A big 3mx2m screen with individual wireless headphones can be supplied by arrangement with the owner, and you can take advantage of their library of films. A new addition of a pizza oven is available by arrangement, bring your own ready prepared pizza or take advantage of freshly made dough from the owners kitchen. There is off road parking for two cars. EV charging point available on site.
