Stranraer, the ‘gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway ‘, was for more than a century a busy ferry port between Scotland and Northern Ireland. Take a stroll down to the Harbour or enjoy a meal in one of the many places to eat in the town. There are many attractions from delightful clifftop walks to historical sites and beautiful Gardens within a few miles of the town. A must is a visit to Logan Botanic Gardens home to exotic ferns and palms and boasts a beautiful walled garden. Portpatrick is a quaint little seaside village which attracts visitors throughout the year and for the energetic it is the start of the Southern Upland Way, one of Scotland’s acclaimed long-distance footpaths. Mull of Galloway is another attraction not to be missed with its lighthouse and grass roofed visitor centre and is Scotland’s most southerly point with amazing views of Ireland, England, Isle of Man and Scotland.
